in that case, instead of using adhesive like tape, you can use those adhesive magnets so the emblem is held on/easily removable when you detail your car.

So it's done.

The body shop used a glue which took some time go get off without scratching the new paint. I sanded the back of the emblem with 100 grit. Used that adhesive tape I mentioned earlier. I like it because it's thin so the emblem doesn't sit off the surface anymore than the OEM badge would. Used a bubble level to get my tape straight.

lmtfi has a different center section design as the 'easy to break' lift piece is about an inch from his emblem where I have several inches. So I used the bottom and right dimensions only.

Is there anyone that has a picture of how theirs is placed by from slightly farther back than the above pics? I need to send a pic to my body shop so they don't screw it up

The photos are close-ups so measurements can be read. All you/your shop needs to do is use tape one horizontal and one vertical distance - and the logo will end up in the right place.

Otherwise you might as well just slap it on somewhere roughly right.

True actually. I'll just try and send them your photos. Thank you for providing the only detailed images I could find online

im running a genuine CSL bootlid and havent bothered to put back the M3 badge yet. even bought a smaller (genuine E9x M3) badge in case that looks better...
