Default E46 M3 Trunk Emblem, placement

Hi all,

I got my car back from the body shop, but the emblem looks wrong- sloped down, instead of straight across. I need to re-mount it. Can someone measure an OEM-placed badge on your trunk so I can reference it? Thanks.

See attached as an example.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1353975218.248921.jpg

^Nice photos and thank you for the contribution.

Warren, can you post a pic of how your badge looks? I hope it isn't too far off.. The only way to fix it would be to take a heat gun or blow dryer to it to soften the adhesive just enough to adjust. I wish BMW had a mounting diagram like that.. I've yet to see one though.

does anyone who has a CSL trunk running a ///M3 badge have a 'correct' or good looking way to do it?

i'm running de-badged for now but if there's a proper measurement to fit it back on i want to try.. i tried mimicing my friends CSL allignment but somehow looks weird.

I always hate seeing a badge off center. Worse case scenario I would just go debadged, but those are some good pictures / measurements to go by.

Edit sorry to thread jack - @lmtfi, that estoril paint looks absolutely stunning

Here's my badge in its current state. I have two of these now, so I plan to remove this one, clean the old one and the trunk and use some of this I have sitting in the garage: http://www.autogeek.net/3m-auto-tape.html

Worse case: it falls off and I lose an emblem. If so, I'll just go to Turner and buy another one, but it costs me nothing to try what I already have.

Will take care of this over the weekend referencing the dimensions lmtfi provided and let everyone know how well it holds over the next wet, cold mornings here. This thread may turn into a quick product review of that tape, haha.

vongeiss: I was considering going with no badge. It's quite common in Europe. But I'd like to retain the car's "US factory" look.

not sure if its just the angle of the photo, but the location seems mostly correct but its put on at an angle?

Looks like the ///M part of the logo is higher than the 3

I tried to take my picture using the trunk lid lower body line to level my camera out to.

Two differences I pick up on compared to the Blue M3 pics (3rd one):

1) The logo is parallel (horizontal) with the lower trunk lid body line.
2) The logo is of equal height when compared to that [right] rear body panel line that mates up to the top of the tail light. It is no higher than this line.

Mine is angled and much higher than that body/tail light line. A Google image search shows emblems all over the place since it shows a lot of modified cars. Locally, the few M3's I see are also modified. I'll confirm lmtfi's general placement compared to OEM by looking in the sales brochure I have and if he is correct, I'll reference his dimensions.
