Default Trade E46 M3 for E92 335i?

I know this has been beaten to death and probably the wrong forum to ask the question, everyone will just say to keep the M. My situation is slightly different due to the age of my car.

My manual 2001 M3 has 200k km on it and I spent a lot of time and money to maintain my baby. Ground Control coilovers with all new shocks, rotors, pads, starter, battery, alternator, rad hoses, water pump, themostat, P/S hoses, control arms, bushings front and rear, tie rods, sway bar end links, ignition coils, tires, engine mounts, tranny mounts, guibo, CSB, etc etc etc.
No subframe cracks, no VANOS issues although I was about to do the Beisan oil pump disc and the oil report looks good (new engine was put in at 75k during the rod bearing recall). If I do spend time on the VANOS, I'm keeping the car forever.

It drives like new but it's getting old. Every time I drop a grand on parts for the car, I just keep telling myself "ok, after this there is nothing else that can go wrong, this car should be good to go for another 200k". Really, other than wheel bearings, fuel pump, fan clutch, what else can go wrong with these cars mechanically? I've replaced pretty much everything else.

I have an opportunity to trade for a 2009 335i w/sport package with 70k km on it + possibly some cash on either side. I really love the color combo white/red interior. The only downside is that the car is automatic with paddle shifters
What do you think? I really can't decide.

So you never really addressed the biggest issue with the car (subframe plates and beisan preventatives)?

I'm all for new cars but that 335i is old as well. Your car will be sought after 5yrs from now while 335i will just be another standard old BMW. If you're just bored I say ride it out but if you do need a newer more comfortable daily go with 335i.

For an e92 with almost 50,000 miles to be traded in for the M with about 120,000, it wouldn't make financial sense. The e92 isn't going to be worth much as you continue to drive the car into the the higher miles. You will then find yourself replacing parts as you have been doing with your M (not that parts would be as expensive). Let a couple years go by and the M will be worth much more than the 3 series. Besides, Chris Bangle ruined everything he touched (this includes the e9x maybe thats why he 'quit').

I have a Mason Engineering subframe brace, no need for plates. VANOS does keep me up at night but I've been checking it every valve adjustment and plan on doing it next time around.

Maybe my car is a unicorn with no subframe cracks or VANOS issues at 200k hah

It is weird, looking on Craigslist locally, it seems E46 M3s are holding their price at roughly what I paid for mine 7 years ago. E92 335i are around the same or slightly less.
I don't know what comfort is anymore, I've had coilovers and 19 inch wheels on my car since day 1 lol

N54 are a PITA. Turbos blow, fuel pumps blow. And regular maintenance

As a previous owner of an E90 335i, I vote no.

The only one I would consider is the 335is, but the M3 is still a better car at the end of the day (naturally I'm biased being on this site)

My girlfriend says I should listen to you guys lol.

I'm going to take it for a spin and sleep on it. I think the auto transmission may be the deal breaker.
