Default Hunting Idle and Stall

All, I have a combination of two common faults. A hunting idle on cold starts and a severe drop in rpm's when rolling to a stop. (Car would stall out completely if I don't blip throttle.) I have changed the MAF, Battery and Intake Filter. I don't know of any good ways to find a vacuum leak. I don't see any obvious cracks. I have tried the soapy water bottle trick to no avail. All help welcomed. Thx.

Default Hunting Idle and Stall

Mine idle hunts and it's been getting more violent. It started when I got a lightweight flywheel. I'm going to raise my idle and hopefully that gets rid of it

do you have a Dinan tune?
have you read/cleared codes?
is it switching to winter gas blend in your area?
is the air rail tube still connected?
have you checked voltage at the fuel pump?
have you changed fuel filter or replaced fpr?
have you cleaned your icv?
have you cleaned your itb's?
no miss fires?
have you checked your spark plugs?
coil packs still snug?
have you checked the elbow for any cracks?

there's too many things that are known to cause this issue... happy hunting

smoke test will tell you if you have a vacuum leak most of the time

Or brake cleaner/starter fluid/carb cleaner if you don't have access to a smoke machine.

I just recently smoked my engine and surprisingly my AFE intake has leaks at every joint (even though the clamps are as tight as they'll go)!

[QUOTE=BearDeXPS;1067718925]do you have a Dinan tune?

No codes
is it switching to winter gas blend in your area?
Possibly, but it's been doing this all year.
is the air rail tube still connected?
I'm not familiar with the air rail tub. Where would I find this. I imagine it connects to the intake arm at some point.
have you checked voltage at the fuel pump?
I have a volt meter. How would I go about this?
have you changed fuel filter or replaced fpr?
I have not.
have you cleaned your icv?
I did. I don't feel like it did much, if at all. I found that some just need to be replaced.
have you cleaned your itb's?
I did when I cleaned the ICV
no miss fires?
No
have you checked your spark plugs?
Replaced last year
coil packs still snug?
I'll double check
have you checked the elbow for any cracks?
I did. Nothing noticeable.

There are a lot of issues that can cause this...

I have the feeling I induced a hunting idle at cold start when I had trouble removing my fuel filter from the fpr. Try replacing both (or either). Both of your issues are occurring at low flow rates (coasting to a stop, idle speed) which could mean it just isn't moving enough fuel. Since you've replaced your MAF, checked your intake for leaks, and replaced spark plugs, the only remaining place to rule out is the fuel system.
