Questions on this unit, if you don't mind:
1) are the buttons programmable?
2) do the programs you were running last time the car was on fire back up when you turn the car back on?
3) Can you install any android apps you want on this?
4) Do apps running in the background function properly?

My basic desire set is this:
On startup, I want YaV1 to automatically run in the background, filtering GPS results. I'd also like it to automatically fire up Waze, looking for cops (I would get it its own sim card for data) and nav as required. I would like it to pair with my iphone (iPhone) for phone calls, and music if I want music over bluetooth. I'd also like it to be able to pull music off a USB connected iPod.

If I get CEL code, I'd like to be able to use torque to pull it (presumably using torque).

On track, replace Waze and YaV1 with Harry's GPS lap timer.

Any part of this that seems like it would be a problem in the current implementation?

btw, I sent Xtrons an email asking about hardware in the shape of the Avin button free 9" unit and they said they'd probably have something before the end of the year.

1) I believe the buttons are programmable through settings, I'll check during lunch.
2) it's pretty much like a phone when it boots up. They don't run but you can check your recent apps if you didn't close them before and chose which app you want to run. It has a very fast processor so loading back up is instant.
3) yes you can install any apps from Google market place. - I installed waze.

I made a video last night but the screen brightness flooded out everything so I'm going to redo it later today. The video shows how fast the boot up is. How quick/instant the connections are, i.e Bluetooth, wifi/hotspot. Touch screen responsiveness, gps. Etc

Well that's enough for me! I've been waiting about a year for this Avin unit to come and it just keeps getting delayed and delayed.

I'm going to cancel the pre order.

I'm confused. I was emailing someone from xrtrons and they were merely cut/pasting but weren't actually giving me any real information.

It would also be nice to be able to use the existing gps antenna but I feel like this will be a pain as I think the unit is in the boot?

So it sounds like we need the harness previously mentioned to run to the boot somewhere?

My only issue, with these screens,is the glare. They ALL suck in that department.
