What solid audio options are out there Bav sound don't really add much power to the sound system. Stock is garbage

The best way is to just build your own system. Replace speakers and amplifiers get a head unit. Use factory wiring. You're good to go you can find better quality aftermarket speakers to fit in place of the factory ones.

It fits same as every other Double Din - requires a bezel and cutting/resealing your heater ducting. Not nearly as big a chance as it sounds and well worth the added functionality. My heater still works as factory. Pics installed below. I didn't do the install, took it to our very own 12vElectronics and he did an amazing job.

I used to fret and fret about how bad the bezels looked when I had my MKIV equipped M3. Now, I much prefer my bezel and double din. I'll trade buttons and knobs for a modern, capacitive touch screen any day.

Pics of my DDX9903s installed

That's perfect, there is a shop here in Houston that works on exotics and high end cars. I think I'll just have them install the ddx9903s.

I just replaced all my speakers with alpine type r 6.5" components. I have the HK base system but it sounds 1000x better now.

How do you make it work with all the Bmw connectors and everything so that it all works. Can you change volume from steering wheel and all that?

Steering wheel controls go into the head unit. Which mine is still stock at the moment. So those are unchanged.
But you can buy modules that make the steering wheel controls work with aftermarket head units

I wired the alpine components into the factory wiring. created my own connectors from the OEM speakers. used the crossovers in the rear only, and didn't wire the tweeters into the mid bass speakers. Kept all the speakers separate using OEM wiring.

um, yes? i know i'm the weird one around here, but i like my avant2 quite a bit as it works perfectly for what i want. i think it looks good and improved on my stock business CD unit quite a bit.

I have a smartphone I upgrade regularly. I have no desire for my in dash stereo to feel terribly dated in eighteen months.
with a good looking OEM replacement it won't be any more outdated than your entire interior anyway. and with apple car play or android auto the screen will always be up to date. on some of these units you might even be able to install nova launcher if you're so inclined.

If anyone feels like me and also happens to be an audio expert please enlighten me to the proper path.
i'm no audio expert but do whatever suits you. i don't want to have to charge my phone and connect it to my car stereo every time i get in. that's hella annoying and dumb IMO. plus a 5" screen sucks compared to these units. the avant2 improved my audio, gave me navigation, steering wheel controls, and all my music at a good price (i got in on the group buy). i'm happy.

cheers.

I am waiting to see what the Avant is all about. But honestly, i feel like the kenwood DDX9903S is a more reliable option and will fit nicely with a bezel.
