Default Eibach Pro-Street-S Coilover for E46 M3 tested

Full Disclosure Here: I work for Eibach and have been for the last 8 years. I've been going to the track and working in the industry consistently for the last 13 years. The review below is my unbiased opinion of our new Eibach Pro-Street-S coilover kit for the E46 M3. This was not part of any of my job assignments and only did it based on my involvement with the M3F community and my personal experience with the E46 M3.

Eibach has been developing an entry level coilover for the E46 M3 for quite some time now and I was able to test the first kit on my friend Blake's car.

Here are some details on their Pro-Street-S model (Part# 2072.711):
- Height Adjustable: (Front=0.8" - 2.8")(Rear=0.5"-2.5")
- Monotube internals with 46mm diameter pistons.
- Stainless steel bodies.
- Designed, manufactured and assembled by Eibach in Corona, CA.
- Uses Eibach ERS "elite" springs which are a barrel design for increased travel and reduced weight. This also means you can switch spring rates if desired.
- Comes with 400lb/in front and 450lb/in rears. (7.15kg/mm & 8.0kg/mm) for you metric guys.
- One Year Warranty and can be rebuilt by Eibach in Corona, CA.
- Eibach MSRP is $1695.

Street Driving Impressions:
This kit is focused on street performance. With that said, the Eibach coilovers are very compliant and balanced on the street. The spring rates are not aggressive which allows the kit to soak up a lot of road imperfections. This M3 previously had Eibach Pro-Kit springs with factory shocks and the ride quality is very similar. No complaints here on ride quality!

Track Driving Impressions:
I want to first throw out there that I have a lot of experience on track. We did our shakedown testing at Buttonwillow and I've been going there quite often since 2002.

Blake's car is equipped with the Eibach coilovers (of course) with Ground Control street camber plates, Eibach front and rear sway bars, Apex Arc-8s in 18x9.5 and 265/35/18 Hankook RS3 tires. The brakes are factory including the rotors and pads along with complete factory interior.

I was honestly a little concerned about the soft rates the Eibach engineers chose to use on the kit. However, after starting my initial out lap on track I was pleasantly surprised to find the car very firmly planted. I could really feel the shocks extending at each corner allowing the tires to grip through every bump. The rebound on the shocks is spot on. I slowly picked up my pace on the opening lap as I got more comfortable with how the car was handling.

I had no other cars directly in front of me and with Blake as passenger I immediately went into a hot lap as I approached the front straight. I hit the "Sunset" turn at full speed and, again, could really feel the extension of the shocks through the dip on the inside left. Blake's M3 has a lot of grip!

I continued to complete a clean lap around Buttonwillow's clockwise #13 configuration and noticed a little more body roll than I normally would in a more prepped car. But for a "street" car with a novice/intermediate track set up I was very impressed with the speeds I was able to carry through "Bus Stop" and "Riverside" and completed my single hot lap with a 2:04.2.

The Eibach Pro-Street-S coilover for the E46 M3 is the perfect street/track set up for someone looking to purchase a well balanced coilover. There's not much process that's needed to set these up for street and/or track. Install them, set ride height, dial in alignment and go!

*Side Note* The Ground Control street camber plates allowed an extra 12mm of lowering in the front over factory top mounts.

If you've made it this far, thank you for reading! Mods, if this is in the wrong section, please let me know.

Looks like a nice piece of kit. Are those helper springs and sway links included?

PS: Great review Treflip. Been waiting for someone to post up a review on their coilovers

Yes, everything pictured is included. The endlinks are actually very nice quality too.
