Considering the issues with the rod bearings on the S54, preventive maintenance is the way to go.

My bearings was replaced on the recall at 21728 miles (SIB 11 04 04 LBL code 422) . I got another 5200 miles to go to my next oil change when my sample will be sent off to Blackstone.

My baby is healthy !! Such a relief to get a back a clean bill of health. Well worth the 25 bucks. Turn around time was about 1 week. As soon as you send payment Blackstone sends you back another 2 test kits that will be utilized at the next oil change interval. This was the 1st oil change I did since I've owned the car and I am super relieved that everything checks out. I will keep a close eye on the Led levels at the next go-around to make sure things are not getting worse. I drive my car to work in the morning some days and the stop-go driving may contribute to the slightly higher than average Lead levels.

Results good, track season open!

Notes: rod bearing recall at around 30k Miles, currently at 96k. Usually change oil at 7500 but its been a year so I figured it was due.

Last year I did 4 weekends so nothing too crazy. I'm hoping to get in another 4 in the next 3 months though so next years report might be more interesting...

So I collected my sample and filled out the form but I am wondering... is one sample really going to tell me anything? Isn't it only significant if I run like 2-3 tests and see if there is a trend?

I have completed two samples with Castrol and just changed my oil to redline to see if there will be a difference. So my next analysis will show 3 samples all with Castrol and then in another 5k miles I will finally have a sample with redline.

I'll keep ya'll posted.
