And neither an E46.

It's still a BMW design, not VW. We do not have the keyless system you do. This is the best option readily available and at a fair price. Let it go.

I wouldn't endorse this product at this time.
This is to revise my incorrect comments posted earlier.

Your EWS issues are likely the result of using his EWS chips, a problem with your car side or the chip placement (which you said you've tried). The keyless portion of the UAS system is working as intended. If you are using his chips, use OEM instead.

I've been using this system for 8 years with an OEM EWS chip without any major issues. The plastics on the keys wear out and need replacement every few years. Interference and how you hold the key can sometimes be an issue (hold it logo side up and it always works, upside down will occasionally not respond). The frequency used has opened several house gates (more amusing than anything).

I take it that site posted, sells BMW style keys, but not original BMW blank shells.

If so, you could also go with a replica of the 'Euro' style keyfob.

Goes without saying, diamond key > VW key.

I do agree the -e46 style is best.

I am using my original OEM EWS chips just taken out of my original keys and placed into the new ones

(Hopefully these issues will help OP if he should have issues with it)

thanks everyone! I did just order the UAS keyless entry. I am really enjoying the E36 again. It has been many years since I have owned one. Drove a few to attempt a purchase but just were not taken care of. Found a Garage kept one owner in Palm Springs and drove it home to Washington. The driver feel of a dialed in E36 M3 is very enjoyable! Thanks for taking the time to respond!
