Default Gifted Quaife 3.73: Which car is best for it, or sell?

I got gifted a lot of things from a longtime friend who used to own an S54 Clownshoe. He gave us a ton of stuff he's had sitting around for about a decade after he found out that we got a Z3M Roadster.

Included in the lot is a Quaife 3.73 rear diff. After doing some research, I felt like I had less info than ever of which car it should go in. AFAIK, it fits in all three of our M cars. So with that said, forum-hive-mind, if you had this diff which car would you put it in: 95 M3 (S50), 98 Z3M (S52), 03 M3 (S54). Or should I keep all stock and sell?

My initial thought was the e36 m3 because its stock at 3.15, and it's definitely missing something off the line to the point where my wife complains that its "so much slower than our other M's". What say you?

I thought the diff size for the E36 and E46 M3s are different, at least for the NA version of the E36

True.

US e36 M3 and Z3M use a 188 diff.

E46 M3 = 210 diff.

Interesting. Well that helps make my decision easier. I'm leaning towards the e36 M3 anyway.

I figured it would be cross compatible to the e46 because the Quaife came out of an S54 e367.

You can modify the e36 subframe to hold the 210mm diff. Post a picture of the diff so we can help you better
