The car is a JDM import. Not a numbered Canadian edition from the looks of it.

True points, but it's about $11,770~ USD and has 110600 miles. Considering that, it looks like it could be a good buy of course considering the rest of the car is in appropriate condition. Not a bad buy necessarily. Did earlier European spec cars come available with SMG? Didn't know that.

Yes. That's the SMG pump.

You surely know that I'm an E36 M3 with SMG owner by now?

But yeah, many people have no idea and still think that SMG2 was the first SMG car. While the 2 should be a clear giveaway.

Still lots of SMG cars here in Europe. Most don't like it (of whom most have never driven one, nor even be in the vincinity of one) some like it, some love it. Just keep it in perspective and don't compare it with 20+ year newer DCT trannies.

First of its kind. Just before Ferrari's F1 system.

If you search on E36 M3 SMG, you'll get a bunch of vids.

Here's a closer view of the unit.

Yea I didn't know when the SMG was first available. To each their own as to whether you like it I suppose. I'm not a fan of the E46 SMG, I know that much from first hand experience. But lets stop there before the thread derails :P

Correct.
