Maybe that "peel-able" spray paint... Dupli-color sells it I think. I was just looking at it yesterday while shopping for LED bulbs... That might be a good use for the stuff.

Then again, leaving it alone is a lot easier...

Yea you could flat black plasti dip it. No idea how the texture will look but it probably won't be bad. Probably smoother than the original finish.
