Good to know. As far as dealerships, this is true, but some are vastly better than others--just like some insurance companies are better than others.

No o-ring shown on RealOEM (No. 10), will I have one in my o-ring assortment pack?

The O-ring is pre-attached to the #10, it is not a seperate part number. See the picture below from another thread.

I changed mine out in about 30 minutes. The headers don't have to come out. You can get a thick screwdriver through the runners. Grab the square portion of the screwdriver with a 1/4 inch wrench and twist off. It's really that simple.

Update:

I called BMW Customer Relations to try and see if they will budge on covering the CPV on warranty. They said no. It was worth a try.

I am trying to avoid paying the $100 deductible from VPP (3rd party warranty). They failed to show up to do the inspection today, so now I have to wait till Monday. I have a feeling they are going to deny the FCABs repair due to the HKS suspension, but I bet they will try and get out of the warranty in whole for all items in question.

I did call EM1.com and spoke with John. He is very familiar with the Constant Pressure Valve and says he made a special tool to make it easy to get to. $200 for total job including part. I guess this will be my last resort if warranty won't cover it.

Anyone know the CA laws regarding 3rd party warranties and aftermarket parts that don't effect the problem in question?

Also anyone know the Federal laws and mandatory warranty for seatbelt failures?

Anyhow worse comes to worse:
$200 replace constant pressure valve (EM1.com complete job with part)
$78 replace passenger side pre-tensionser DIY (Need to buy part from Tischer, simple)
$190 FCABs replace (West End Alignment $140 install with Front End Alignment, I have OEM FCABs in hand which I bough from Tischer)
Total $468. Not so bad, but lets see what I can get done for free.

I guess I will have to wait till Monday.

Gee, ever think of finding a new dealer? That one sounds like a bunch of slimeballs.
unless its a huge leak, you probably wont see oil spots on your driveway because it starts to collect on your oil pan....

I'm wondering because recently I've started to lose more oil than before. When I first got the car, I added about 2/3 qt. in 5,000 miles. Now it seems more like 3/4 qt. in 1,500-2,000. And this was over the course of a year.

UPDATE:

3rd Party Extended Warranty Company Vehicle Protection Plus (Tech Serv) VOIDED the whole warranty due to aftermarket HKS suspension. Total scumbags, I knew they would weasel out of the warranty coverage. These companies have no morals, reasonable judgement or any care besides their bottom dollar.

Seatbelt pretensioner - Declined to cover, nothing to do with the suspension
Constant pressure valve - Declned to cover, nothing to do with the suspension
Front Control Arm Bushings - Declined to cover, reasonable to not cover, but them failing had nothing to do with the suspension.

Anyhow complete remainder of the 7 year 84 month warranty VOIDED. Would have Expired in March 2010.

Even South Bay BMW was suprised at this decision as they saw no reason to not cover the repairs. Well I did request the remainder of the warranty to be prorated ($450 or so) and refunded. I should have no problem getting a years worth back, but I am sure the VPP will try and weasel out of this as well.

I am looking to go to small claims court so sue them to cover the charges of me fixing it ($500 or so) and see if The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C) stands for 3rd party warranties as well. How can they even fight that? I do understand that the contract references no coverage for cars with aftermarket parts under exclusions, but can that even be enforced in referece to Act above. So if you use a pair of light bulbs that weren't from the dealer they can VOID your whole warranty for your tranny etc.? Were do you draw the line of what's reasonable as the contract is very vague. Also I do have receipts of the suspenstion being professionally installed, aligned and corner balanced by WEST END. I guess I will see what happens. Doing this out of principle.

Well EMW1.com in Arcadia will do the CPV replacement for $200 (part included).

Darrin at West End will do the FCABs next week for $140 (plus realign front)

and I will do the seatbelt pretensioner myself. Also what do you know the light went off as soon as I picked up my M today from the dealer.
But it will go back on, it has been doing that the last few months after resetting it with the PEAKE SRS tool.

OK, well that's it for now, thanks for listening to my rants!
