Default E30 M3 Convertible Spotted Stateside?

Hi everyone. Normally I am on the E36 board, but the other day I saw what I think was an E30 M3 vert driving around San mateo, CA (on the SF penninsula). Just wondering if any of the limited production actually made it stateside or was this just an elaborate fake out? The car did seem to have the appropriate fenders, but I am no expert. What would it take to get the car federalized? Thanks much.

There are a few of them, some real and some converted.

Not sure what it would take to get one fed'ed but it is cost prohibitive for most of us

Most likely a converted US Spec E30 vert with some body work done to it to mold in the coupe fenders...

I saw one on the east coast a while back. It was a converted e30 but had the full body work, engine, set-up, etc. Nice car

I think only like 13 or 17 made it over. My brother over in England said he is going to look for one over there.
