It should be insured by Schmiedmann. their existing shipping policies and insurance policies should apply. However, I will make sure to confirm this. I am just the guy that started the communication with Schmiedmann about group discounts (it could have been anyone for that matter), so I personally will not be handling shipping insurance. The final sale will be going through Schmiedmann, so it will be them who covers all of that.

Then ship each one individually. $200-250 shipping, INSURED, from Europe with company that can replace the item if damaged in transit really isn't a bad cost.

If you are friends with guys on here locally, you could probably save a bunch by having the order placed together and shipping to one location in one box. Of course that means you have to trust the other person, but as you mentioned, it may be one way to reduce the cost by half or more depending on how many people ordering are local to you.

It seems like the amount saved from the GB might not be worth the extra hassle.

There's no extra hassle if the items are shipped directly to the buyer.

That was my thoughts and intentions as well. Basically a big forum coupon code.

I can confirm this. If you buy direct from them there would be zero hassle. I was just responding to another members concerns/comments about shipping being cheaper due to bulk buying.

Something else to mention when working with Schmiedmann, DO NOT trust their online shipping calculator.

What I would recommend is finding a Schmiedmann dealer who already gets say 10% off and see if they can get Schmiedmann to increase their existing discount. This will bring the overall price down and get someone involved who is used to dealing with them. Just my 2 cents.

Your are of value and I appreciate it! Would you happen to have any experience with or recommendations of US Schmiedmann dealers?

Does anyone know what's different with the Japanese version of the CSL trunk (41007897435)? I know Japan uses US-dimension license plates, so I was wondering if it would be better able to accomodate US plates, though the ROW versions seem to fit them just fine too.

The lids were $100 cheaper during Christmas. I would push them for that Christmas pricing.

I've been tracking their prices pretty closely for the last year and never saw that discount. They did have a late Black Friday sale, but this wasn't part of it. This is a eur/usd play right now. Could go lower in 6 months or be hit with a 20% border adjustment tax. That's the risk.

As of today, their regular retail pricing of approx. $1150 (all-in delivered) for OE CSL lids seems like the new standard. If a group buy can shave anything off that cost, it's icing on the cake.
