Other than the Audi dealer free rental from previous, I am not seeing a lot of free rental situations. Might want to make a call on that before you put it in the bank.

My co-worker got a free rental for about 4 months, a BMW X5 too. Her current car is a 2008 X5...old for sure, but she has also bought 5 BMWs from the same dealership over the last 20 years, so that was likely part of why they got her the rental. She also made a stink about the safety, point about her X5 having the comfort seats due to neck/medical issues, etc., so YMMV on how strong a case you make with your own dealer.

I got my 2006 M3 passenger airbag done almost a full year ago. Been on the waitlist ever since to get the driver's side done, and still nothing.

I think the problem is the canister that contains the explosive charge can fracture on inflation resulting in shrapnel.

Thats my question. Obviously they arent replacing a canister so what is the actual module or replacement part? The whole airbag assembly with cover?

I'm sure it would have to be. Modern airbags everything is self contained.

Since BMW doesnt have a solution for this, are they willing to disable the airbag for free?

I saw something stating customers with vehicles 2011 or older could get an off lease car as a loaner until a remedy is available. Any truth to that?
