A proper diffuser will be done at some point. Right now though it just needs to get finish and running properly.

Thought SS would've had this wrapped up. OE GTR headers can be had for $18k..
When I first heard there was a "possibility" of getting some SS headers made specifically for this car and chassis I was pretty stoked. Honestly though those may not even fit. There are just too many variables. What if my engine placement was different, mounts in the way or the steering shaft. All of those things would have to be identical to the GTR car for there to even bee a possibility of them fitting.

Can't wait till next year!

Whatever you do, make sure it's just as loud as the white car. I want to hear that car at all times from the infield.

hey Perk, this is a bit off topic but, did you ever try meth injection when you had the s/c on the car?

I'm not sure what the exhaust setup will be quite yet but I can't imagine it will be quieter than the old car.

No I didn't, for a few reasons.

1. For a track car the more you have to deal with the worse off you are. The SC'r itself was already a huge PITA. Every time something went wrong I had to take the damn thing out just to get access to anything else. So adding another component wasn't happening.

2. Added weight

3. I already had the BimmerWorld radiator (35% larger), BimmerWorld oil cooler, BimmerWorld oil diverter valve, Motorsport thermostat, SPAL high speed fan, no Aux fan and no A/C. I would overheat 3 laps into a 20 minute session. I didn't see how lowering my IAT's some degrees (what is it 20 or so) was going to make a huge difference. Would Meth get me to 5 laps, maybe 6? So then I'm still coasting and lifting throughout half my sessions, that's just not fun to me.

With all that said, I believe the majority of my issue was the altitude. I'm comparing using my old car but there were guys with the same cooling setup as I had before that ran 20+ degrees hotter here in Colorado compared to what I ran at sea level. There just isn't enough dense air up here to run through the system.

Engine arms / mounts are going to powder coat today.

Still contemplating mounts at this point. These will work and cost next to nothing but I'm still looking into ways to move the mounts forward. At this point I'm fairly limited due to the oil pump on one side and the steering shaft on the other. These mounts clear both and leave plenty of room for the headers.

Things I'll hopefully be knocking out or at least starting this weekend:

- Clean up firewall - close all the holes left from removing the AC and heater core.
- Mount pedal assembly.
- Re-located ABS just a few inches over and re-connect brake lines.
- Move steering column down at the point it exits through the firewall.

This isn't really S62 related but it's still a BMW.

Finally convinced my wife to ditch the explorer and get into a BMW so we picked up this X3. It's a 2011 but has less than 20k miles and had just come off lease. Still has the extended maintenance plan and warranty so it was a good pick up. Got it when BMW was doing the 1.9% and paying the first two payments promotion. Since I'm a nut and couldn't leave it alone I ordered some 20" VMR's, H&R lowering springs and got it all tinted and clear bra'd.

Sorry for the iPhone pics.

Yeah the white racecar and white X3 would have looked nice sitting in the garage together.

Looking back it's always 20/20 and I wish I wouldn't have sold that car but if I hadn't I wouldn't be doing the cool stuff I am with this car. So it all worked out.

This is rad! Look forward to your progress and hope you get to enjoy it soon! For what it's worth, these engines don't need too much muffling to keep them quiet. I had an E39 M5 and with the stock headers, Rogue X-Pipe (2 small bottleneck resonators), and Dinan mufflers (literally, hollow mufflers), it sounded mild. Aggressive when you need it to be, but still, very mild in the overall sense.

With that said, I bet you could get away with just two resonators or small mufflers.
