Default is the stock e46 m3 really that fast?

idk maybe i've just been spoiled to drive a quick car for too long, but i sorta am starting to think that the m3 stock isn't all THAT fast...idk, i mean i know it aint a drag car, but sometimes i feel that it isnt jerky fast like i expected it to be/wanted? any other thoughts? oh and by the way, i know i should just mod to fix this, but i dont spend money on mods for this car, cuz i'm in school ,and plan to save up to buy new one when i graduate and mod that one

the engine power delivery is smooth, which will mislead you into thinking the acceleration is slower.

not to mention, it's hard to mod a M3 to be faster in a straight line w/o spending big bucks.

Sounds like what you want is TORQUE, something that we are a little short on. Look into upgrading your diff if you want to feel this thing called TORQUE.

read the thread about the guy in critical care (prayers). how fast do you want? this car is fast enough to stain your shorts if driven properly. anything less than 5 seconds to 60 is FAST.

HA! Don't bring that crap around me. Try selling yout M3 and going back to a 2001 Accord (V6 baby!) and tell me the M3 isn't a quick car stock. You're just too used to the power. That's why people who did the AA SC stage 1 usually eventually upgrade to stage 2.

All I know is 200+ hp in my pig of a car is really hard to switch lanes doing 80 mph when the M3 used to be a snap. But every car owner feels this way once they're used to the speed. If I had a M3 right now, I know I'd sh*t in my pants redlining 1st going into 2nd.

Sometimes I think I am getting used to the car's speed...then the car reminds me. Try doing something a little different....instead of hammering the car from a standstill, get a rolling start from say a toll booth or something while the car is up to temp, just slam it for a few seconds...nothing crazy or dangerous but just feel that torque you are needing, I find that it sucks me back in my seat more if I am "not really expecting it" and I remind myself how scary fast this car is. I love sitting around 4k in 3rd gear and just hitting it every once in a while...feels good.

I sometimes feel the same way...I feel like the car isn't that fast anymore....but then after driving my beater I get reminded al over again how amazing the ///M is...

The beater... 1986 Pontiac Grand Am SE...only 16k miles if you can believe it.
