Default SMG Shop Recommendation in the DMV Area

Hi All,

My SMG is acting up! From reading all the info on various forums, it sounds like I have a broken #6 spring. I want go to a shop that would replace the spring first to see if it would resolve my shifting issue. I don't want to go to a shop where they will tell me that I need to replace a pump before trying out my suggestions. I usually take my car to Dan Martin's and he is excellent. But I'm not sure if he is a SMG expert. Is there one in the DMV area?

Thanks in advance for any help!

TC

Finally, I got time to fix this issue and the delayed shifting is due to a broken spring. I had the shop (RRT's) replaced all 3 springs and detents as a preventive maintenance. The tech said the spring broke in 4 pieces. Picking up the car tomorrow and can't wait to drive it again. Thank you all for posting this solution and save me a boat of money since every shops wanted to change the transmission.

Glad that worked out. My race car is at RRT now. I am a major fan of those guys.
