4000-5000 depending on the bulb and color temperature. Metal Halide lamps are around 75-100 lumens per watt.

Philips DL50 is 5100 lumens or something. But it's 3900K. And in general running 50W ballasts with 35W bulbs will cause the resulting color temperature to be warmer.

Probably worth giving the newer Osram bulbs a try. Despite the ratings being similar on paper, they are definitely brighter than the older Philips bulbs.

Very nice work, Brett. Awesome job.

I am running an FX-R bi-xenon with Osram Nightbreaker 66240 D2S bulbs (4200k) in my OE Bosch lights and the output is incredible (no lens -- used Iris shrouds instead). Doesn't look as OE, although it's much cleaner than the ZKW TSX retrofit I used to run.

I made a US > Euro adapter many years ago with the OEM parts (I kept the US plugs in case I ever decide to sell the car and throw the US lights back on), so the wiring is relatively clean, although the ballasts are externally mounted, sadly. Nice that LED allows you to be entirely self-contained in the light.

Current retrofit:

Old ZKW retrofit:

I just went to order the Osrams, and was told that's what I'm already running

Did those headlights already come with the glass cut?

I have a glass Bosch set and TSX projectors I am about to go to town with - but am a bit scared of cutting the glass with the glass hole saw.

As mentioned, there is no glass cut. The whole goal was to not ruin these headlights.

Where did you mount them? I often see these fitted to the strut towers, while there is a nice spot on top of the bumper carrier to mount them out of sight.

Both places are common to mount the ballasts.

Driver side is where the cruise control module would be (my car does not have cruise control), passenger side is mounted on the bumper carrier.
