Default ESS IAT Sensor Relocation

Hey guys, I'm in the process of preparing to install my ESS VT2-550 kit, and I had what I think to be an interesting idea regarding the IAT sensor location. I've read a few posts that claim a heat soaking issue in the stock location similar to the factory MAF issue our cars have. I was intrigued by this, and I wanted to see if there was a better way that's easy to accomplish. I don't want the coolest number possible, but I do want the most accurate and consistent result I can get. Here's my idea demonstrated by this crude drawing:

My theory is that having the sensor right after the intercooler will be an accurate reading since the air will already be compressed and cooled, but it should be far enough away to where heat soak won't be a factor. I also figure that it won't be prone to heat transfer due to it being connected to the silicone coupler instead of the cast iron manifold. Interested in prototyping something in my spare time, I visited my local parts store and bought a cheap silicone coupler, some rubber-coated washers, and a M12x1.5 plug for my manifold. Here's what I came up with:

So now my question to you guys is this:

-Will this setup leak if it is properly tightened with some RTV for added sealing?

-Will the temperature readings from this location truly be accurate?

-Is this project even worth the effort over just putting a nylon washer on the manifold to reduce heat transfer?

Thanks in advance guys! I look forward to reading your replies!

I have mine on the actual plastic intake before the flex hose that goes down to the cone intake.

surely you want the IAT closest the the TBs so the tune or ECU can make a judgment on the AIR temp that the actual TBs are seeing.... all your doing here is tricking the ecu to thinking the car may be running cooler than it actually is, personally the ess location for AIT probe seems very sensible to me.

Why fix what isn't broken??

Bad idea imo!

Mathematical model of calculation, in MSS54 control unit allows for control of volume and density of air supercharged. And based on the law of thermodynamics, temperature sensor must be installed in the air intake volume in front of the windows of the cylinder head and, respectively, after Intercooler.

In such a configuration will be leakproof and temperature sensor squeeze during the next cycle of pressurization.

I had mine on the intercooler pipe that connected from the intercooler to the intake manifold. It helped with getting accurate intake temps compared to the location on the manifold. I used to get incorrect readings with that old location.

Do you guys ever have hard starting issues whej it's super hot and heat soaked in the stock location?

If not I wouldn't really bother moving it

I'd keep it where the software expects the temp reading to come from.

Everybody wants to move this stupid thing, If it is heat soaked in the stock location the engine is likely heat soaked and the safe thing is for the computer to pull timing and add fuel. If the AIT seems all nice up front after the intercooler and the block is heat soaked the ecu will not compensate.
