Three cylinders plug-in hybrid
BMW has in the efficiency pull out all the stops for every gram of CO2 counts, and the G20 is at least a three cylinder diesel below the 100-gram mark. The 316i purrs the 136-hp 1.5-liter from 218i and Mini, the 316d nailed the then 122-hp three cylinder from the Mini Cooper D. For the same modular system originate the two-liter four-cylinder and the new three-liter six-cylinder, as Diesel and gasoline compared to the previous set around 30 hp. The four-cylinder in the 328i, it brings the future to 260 instead of 248 hp, the six-cylinder 340i in mobilized 365 hp. Also, 330d and 340d hold an uprated large number of motor loyalty. The same applies to M3 and M4, where two additional e-loaders and a cooling water injection to raise the bar on almost 500 hp. In the case of hybrids BMW relies on broad scalability. The variables include charging mode (plug-in or inductive), electric motor (60 or 90 kW), range (50, 80 or 100 miles), batteries (range battery or power battery) and Nitro.

The assistance systems are taken from the 7 Series and adds to availability. The new 3 Series can automatically parallel parking, keep the track or switch, brake in case of danger, overtake, under certain conditions, driving semi-autonomous and assist the driver in stop-and-go traffic up to 60 tempo. Despite the familiar cockpit design especially here is hardly a chip on the other. The instruments are future largely freely programmable, the Head-up display provides a variety of additional information, the large central screen can be activated by the controller with touch-sensitive surface or directly by finger touch either. Even more high-tech offering the unique gesture control.

More action needed 3 Series GT
Germans love the Touring (G21), but in the world market dominates the sedan (G20). For China, there will be a four-door again in a long version (G28). The long wheelbase provides a basis for the next 3 Series GT (G24) and the 4-Gran Coupe (G26). It was not until 2020, the successor to the 4p coupe and the new convertible will complete the range. Purists may hope that BMW will replace the retractable hard top convertible with a classic version with fabric hood. The same way, is planned for the new edition of the Z4.

Known BMW virtues are fanned
Although for the next 3 is again provided no air suspension, it is the suspension specialists not only nimble handling, earthy road handling and more powerful brakes. Even where ride and suspension comfort is to be improved. Also in preparation: Easy wheel bearings, (reduce unsprung weight) wheels made of aluminum carbon fiber composite, track / camber and caster adjustable (cheap alternative to rear-wheel steering) wheel with faster and more accurate torque distribution, ESP with later and sensiblerem intervention.

For those of you confused by: "New 3 with 7-genes," it is because the 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7-series will all share the new "35up" platform. It's a cost cutting measure that Audi has been using for years, as all their cars (with the exception of the A3 & TT) are based on the same platform.

I've never heard or read an explanation as to why Audis' were consistently pricier than, let's say, comparable BMW models over the years in spite of obvious cost-costing derived from shared platform.

That's not true..
The S4 comes standard with a moonroof, back up camera, sports package, side window & rear sun shades, Drive select (different suspension settings), alarm system, bluetooth, recaros & nappa leather (Nappa is unavailable on the 3-series), xenons & LED DRLs, heated seats which are optional on a lot of the other cars. $48,400


If you all those features standard on an S4 to a 328i X-drive, it's actually a few grand more expensive than the S4

I understand your point, but a lot of people care more about the lowest starting price than they do about standard equipment differences between competing models. And that leads me back to what I don't get about Audi's marketing -- If shared platform cost savings hand you the option to get under your fiercest competitor, why on Earth would you throw that away by packing the model(s) with sufficient standard equipment to make your own product pricier? The lost business would likely be greater than the business gained, but maybe I'm wrong. Then again, maybe I'm onto something given Audis perennial inability to beat BMW in the North American market.

And in 2017 they'll still make you wait for the LCI to get LED taillights.

The E46 had LED brake lights in 2003. The F30 doesn't, 12 years later.
