Default 2006 E46 M3 AW/IR 0-60 Magazine Build

Not sure why the original owner never made a build thread on this. He was over on e46fanatics...I was just going to resurrect it but it never existed in the first place.

Anyway.... Just bought this car today. This is method769 's old car.

I come from the offroad Toyota world. I have a 1996 4runner that is on its third rebuild. I've owned it for years, stock to 35's then straight axled on 37's, now currently being built to the hilt on 42's:

3.4L auto, 445k miles, 2nd gen SC, AEM F/IC controller, doug thorley headers, borla muffler, 3link/4link, 14" radflo 2.0 resi with 2" bumps on all corners, 32gal jaz cell, prp seats, solid industries dana 60, 14bolt, 5.13's, yukon chromos superjoints, crane knuckles, yukon hc hubs, psc, ruffstuff, 41.5pbr radials on kmc machete beadlocks, lockers, ford 205 with nwfab titan blackbox, 2.25" 7075 links and steering, etc etc..

Anyway, been wanting an M3 for a good 20years, kept thinking they were still pretty expensive. I randomly get a hair up my ass last week and stumbled upon this absolutely well kempt car that will now continue to be cared for.

Looks like this car disappeared off the forum for a lonnng time.

Nothing has changed since the sale, I guess a very wealthy man bought it and put about 40k miles on it, kept it mint. Then the guy I bought it from purchased it in June, drove it about 700miles, and unfortunately had something come up, hence the sale. Awesome guy, I will be keeping in touch with him as I honestly felt bad for buying it because he loved it so much but couldn't keep it. So when he's ready I'll be helping him find another nice one.

Here are the specs copied from the ad:

The stereo is getting trashed...sounds like absolute crap. There's actually not 1500w and 600w amps in there, it has a 500w and a 400w 4channel in it. The Clarion double din is terrible, old features, can't even see the screen unless it's at night...already played with the settings. It's just all old stuff. So it will eventually get some Focal's and a Memphis M6. (4runner is getting a Memphis M6 and other Memphis components).

Got the M3 out of the shop yesterday. Needed a new starter, coolant bypass orings, flex disc, hp steering line.... replacing control arm bushings next week as well. That's all it needs to be tip-top shape.

I need brake rotors and pads for these brembo's....if anyone has a solution that doesn't involve $2000+ I am open ears

Thanks!
Rob

Last four pics below are the old pics from whatever photoshoot they did years ago back in 2008 I think.

My favorite color combo. Congrats on the purchase!

If you need to replace the front rotor rings on the Brembo 355s, the Stoptech drilled/slotted/plain rotor rings will work with the front brembo rotor hats. The rear brembo rotor hats need to be machined to accept the Stoptech rear rotor rings from what I was told.

Hawk and Stoptech pads are an option if you need pads.

Thanks man, yeah the whole stereo is going in the trashcan.

I like the wheels right now, but I honestly don't know what all is out there so I'll end up eventually swapping them down the road when I come across some others I like.

Sweet pickup! Looks like there was a LOT of money put into that car at one point. I agree, lose the stereo, maybe some nice OEM ZCP wheels and it will be a stunner.

Yep yep - starting to look at some wheels. Prob a couple months from now I'll throw a nice set on. 4runner is finally progressing nicely!
