Default Returning my M3 to stock.... Mostly

I purchased my Imola/Imloa E46 M3 on August 2, 2017 with 90,030 miles on it. I had been looking for one for a while but there aren't too many that pop up for sale in SC, and when they do, they're either verts or SMGs neither of which I was interested in. So I finally found my 6MT Coupe.

The previous owner had taken the liberty of applying as much carbon fiber to the car as he possibly could. And I'm not talking about making the car lighter, I'm talking about replacing badges and emblems and trim, and vinyl wrap.

Here's a list of things either replaced with or wrapped in carbon fiber:
Front lip
Kidney Grills
Side Grills
Hood emblem
Trunk emblem
///M trunk emblem
Diffuser
Roof - wrapped
Rear window spoiler (attached at top of rear window with double sided tape) - wrapped
Trunk spoiler - wrapped
License plate cover - wrapped
Dashboard trim - wrapped
Rear Windows
Trim around the shifter where the windows switches mount - wrapped

In addition to carbon fiber all the things, there were other things that had been changed from stock such as:
Stance 5 spoke wheels (Currently for sale with like new tires, make me an offer) - Possibly the worst of all of the changes
Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires.... Yes ALL SEASON TIRES!
Car audio shop's decal on side skirt
Headliner replaced with custom Imola suede
A and B pillars wrapped in grey suede
All stock audio removed from the car (Thankfully given to me at purchase though)
Focal tweeters installed on door next to mirror
Focal speakers in doors
(2) Boston Acoustic 13" subwoofers in custom box (currently for sale, make me an offer)
3 Arc audio amplifiers (one for tweets, one for doors, one for subs)
Pioneer head unit (Sold for $500)
K&N intake
Billy Boat muffler
Custom diamond plate floor mats
Passport 9500ci Radar/Laser detector/jammer
HID Headlight kit
LED taillights

So, it has been my mission to return much of the car to stock. I will be journaling my project here if you feel like following along, or making suggestions, comments, or snide or snarky remarks.

Things I'm going to keep installed:

Billy Boat muffler
New head unit I installed
Focal tweeters
Amplifiers
Would like a small single subwoofer instead of a giant box that adds weight and takes up the entire trunk
Passport 9500ci Radar/Laser detector/jammer
HID Headlight kit
LED taillights

Things I haven't decided on replacing:

Front lip
Rear diffuser

Everything else has either got to go, or already has. So far I've:
Removed the car audio shop's decals (literally within minutes of getting it home)
Replaced the wheels with the OE style 67's and wrapped them in brand new Michelin Pilot Super Sports (OMG I love them)
Replaced the side grills with OE
Replaced the previously installed Pioneer head unit with a single din Android Auto touch screen unit and added a backup camera and steering wheel controls
Replaced the hood and trunk emblems
Removed the CF wrap from the trunk spoiler
Removed rear windows spoiler entirely because why?
Removed CF from rear windows

This photo tells alot of the story. This is me backing out of the previous owner's driveway after handing him a check and receiving the title.
In this picture we can see:

Stance wheels
Carbon fiber side grills
Carbon fiber decal on rear window
Carbon fiber wrapped spoiler at top of rear window
Carbon fiber wrapped roof
Carbon fiber wrapped rear spoiler
'Elite Car audio and performance' decal on skirt
Me happy to now own this vehicle

Here she is still parked in the previous owner's garage before purchase. We can see:
Carbon fiber trunk emblem
Carbon Fiber diffuser
Blacked out ///M emblem
LED taillights
Passport 9500ci rear laser shifter mounted to license plate

Here, home in my garage we can see in the interior:

Carbon fiber wrap around shifter/window switches
Carbon fiber wrap on dash trim
Carbon fiber wrap on door handle (look far right)
Diamond plate floor mats
Focal tweeters custom installed
Pioneer head unit (Sold for $500)
Buttons for Passport 9500ci radar detector custom installed in ash tray

The carbon fiber side grill

The strip club.. I mean suede headliner

Fast forward to today:
OE Trunk and hood emblem
OE ///M3 emblem (Yes I've already been told I didn't mount it properly, I will fix it)
Removed carbon fiber wrap from rear spoiler
Removed carbon fiber wrapped spoiler taped to the top of the rear window
Removed carbon fiber wrapped license plate cover

OE Chrome side grills

OE 19" Style 67's wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sports

And a nice side view of the progress:

Also, put my lil man's Recaro seat in the back and took him for a ride. He loved it of course.

It also drives me crazy when people go overboard on the carbon fiber and vents- these cars are almost perfect straight out of the factory, especially the ZCP. Anyway, congrats on the purchase and keep fighting the good fight.

They're the only ones I know so I'm not sure. They seem nice. I took them off today and replaced them with the OE. If you're interested I'll ship them to ya. I'll post pics in a few

Wow, the PO really made the car look cheap with all his "mods". It's not the worst I have ever seen, and most, if not all, of it looks reversible.

GL with the restoration back to stock OP. It looks like a pretty good example under all the carbon fiber wrap and those wheels.
