Yes, I guess I can get a bit too enthusiastic and dedicated from time to time.

But I really think this is going to turn out very well!

Spent a number of hours this weekend stripping off unnecessary components, scraping off road dust and grime, degreasing the underside and finally sponge washing the underside with hot water.

This is how it came out:

Much more pleasant to work on!

And to make it easier to move in and out of my garage (which won't fit 1,5 cars) i built a dolly with some nice (and pricey) wheels. Two of them swiveling:

And here's the completed, mobile, workbench ready to get started on:

At a perfect working height it provides a fairly ergonomic working position that sure beats laying on my back under a car!

And it also allows me to tip the rear body unit at an angle for even better access:

this is EPIC - your work will help bear fruit in the long term and allow the E46 chassis to be on the road without sub-frame issues for a long time! For people who actually end up getting this fixed the correct way.

I am surprised all these years no-one saw this or discovered this! Great work!

I'm glad you like it!

I had a great start of the VincePlate project this afternoon. But I'll hold on a bit before I share that as I want to be sure I'll actually follow through on that project.

Before that I did however verify the threads of a bunch of my extended hardware. It was super handy with the mount at a perfect working height!

Thanks so much for getting involved in this project and coming up with a solution to the subframe issue that plaques so many members out there! I've been following your work and the subframe reinforcement kit you already came up with. Great work Vince!!

Thank you for the encouragement!

Here's a little glimpse of the rear pre-formed plates taking shape.

And here's a sneak peek of the tac welded first layer of the left rear mount, being tested for fitment on a 02 M3.

The "neck" visible in the top of the first picture will likely be an option as its pretty time consuming to make.
