Mine's going in tomorrow in Cincy for both modules. Hope I don't have any electrical gremlins as a result.

Good to hear theyre replacing the whole cover. I was never sure what module actually meant. Hopefully we get the parts in Canada before the end of the decade.

I asked at the dealer here and being a extreme hot weather country we have no recall right now for driver side airbag.

If you have a Takata airbag then you're also affected. Doesn't matter what country or what weather you have. These airbags have killed people. The problem is real. They (Takata) have managed to wiggle out a compromise showing that only "high humidity" weather causes the problem in order to reduce the burden this has put on them. Your country's safety board may not be interested (or know) about this airbag issue. I'd recommend you get a new airbag (that is not Takata).

As to those wondering why they have a "shiny new roundel":

BMW / Takata addressed this recall in phases here in the USA. The first phase was only changing the firing mechanism to a "new" Takata one to "reset the clock" on the chemicals used in firing so they won't be as explosive and kill you. This meant that your airbag would still look "old" as they only replaced a few parts. The second phase was a entirely new airbag with a different firing mechanism. I took my M3 in for the first time last month after receiving a dozen letters in the mail from BMW/NTSB and they stated these were the "final remedy parts". My X5 has not been added to any phase yet so I could still be killed in an accident.

Is there a limit on how long we can wait to take it in? I waited to do the passenger over the summer until the driver's side recall was issued. Now the car is stored for winter and I probably wont be driving it for another 9 months or so to be honest with ongoing projects

I just talked to BMW of Las Vegas and they had to order the parts. The service tech is going to reach out when they are in for the repair. Thanks for the heads up guys!
