Well, update. Henderson BMW has drivers airbag parts. I went to talk to them. They wouldn't do the airbag unless I brought the entire car. He said they have to reprogram. Sure if you do not disconnect the battery.
Now BMW USA won't return my phone calls.
I am not happy. Looks like I would have to drive the car with no registration but a temporary permit and go to Spokane. Or trailer the car to Spokane. 400+ miles one way. Or wait until Aug 2017 then I can register it even with the recalls.
Or wait to see if BMW Canada will get any drivers airbag parts.

The dealer gave you a line of BS. Changing the air bag explosive components doesn't require flashing a software update. They have to have the whole car to do the work for liability reasons. If BMW is performing the recall they have to do it by the book so your family can't sue them later when you die.

Yep, rules are rules. I guess that is why I like working for myself. I make the rules.
Just had a long but useless phone conversation. No go.
I can just see the fun of driving an M3 with no plate across the border. US customs would be asking questions and then on way back Canadian customs as well. If I towed it maybe even more.

Called BMW of San Diego, service guy said parts won't be available 'til beginning of next year.

Update: Got it done a month ago both driver and passenger, service tech broke the brush trim piece and tried to say that it was broken prior to the service. I was pissed about this. Spoke to the service adviser about it. He was cool enough to replace the trim without any charges.

For those who taking their cars in San Diego BMW, photograph everything. There are some shady service tech that won't own up to their screw-up.

Had mine done at East Bay BMW in Dublin, CA about a month ago. Once they set the appointment, the ordered the part and everything went exactly as scheduled.

Passenger side replaced summer 2015.

Little late to the party here but I just had my driver air bag recall remedied. I got a notice in the mail saying that parts were in and to reach out to my local BMW dealership to setup an appointment asap. I setup a time last week and had it done in about three hours.

Basically what I'm getting at, is that it looks like the parts are finally here and they are starting to have it addressed.
