Angry Re: Drivers airbag recall

So I am assuming that everyone got the recall letter from BMW at least a year ago. My dealer in Spokane, Wa. has no Drivers Side Airbags yet. I was told around August. Will try and call BMWNA to see what their date is. We all have the same problem -- NO AIRBAGS AVAILABLE YET !!! Hang in there troops....
Regards

I contacted BMWUSA the other day. Driver's airbag modules will be available Aug 1. First locations are the hot and humid ones. My car is from Florida. I have it in Alberta when we will probably never get the parts. I'm trying to get them to send parts to where I will be on holidays so I can get the airbag done.

I was having a heck of a time to get the springs pushed in. Then I used pictures etc to find that the springs are 40mm from the hole. I put a piece of tape on the screwdriver at 40mm then I felt around at 40mm. I got it right away. Otherwise a person can be fishing around all over. Hope that helps someone.
Note the picture of the airbag. To me there looks to be a lot of corrosion on the cast metal and rust on the steel parts. This car spent 5 years in Florida. Frankly to me it doesn't look very safe.

As a comparison I refreshed the lower trim on my steering wheel last year and my airbag was nothing like that. Vancouver car for the first 3 years of its life, then Alberta. Airbag replacements sooner than later would be ideal for all of us.

Hmm. I got both airbags replaced on 5/22 of last year. Maybe because I'm near the ocean?

Dealer 1 said pass and driver would require 2 visits. No loaner either.

I called up another location of the SAME dealer, and they said 1 visit was no problem for both, and gave me a nice 4 as a loaner.

Well, I am now in Las Vegas with my driver's airbag in a little plastic case. I think of it like a little heart transplant case. Now BMW USA are saying I will need the entire car which I think is pretty stupid. I have to call them back and see if I can make them see that there are some of us that actually do know more than how to call the dealer.

Was it the passenger side airbag that was possibly causing dead batteries or something once replaced? Last I called my dealer, they had no parts and no arrival timing. I should call back if August if the timing.

I don't think so...I had my passenger side replaced almost a year ago and haven't had any problems.
