its def a classic...

i drove a friend's e36M last weekend then jumped back into my e92 on tuesday and ... well.. the e36 is def a classic from a tech-perspective lol ...

head-units, cassette/CD-changers.... shit, the steering wheel is even old-school.

I consider them classics already... the 60s-70s cars u mention are "vintage"

IMO

Maybe I'm a few steps behind, but my M is the newest I've owned as far as model year and tech is concerned...20 old years is a modern classic

Modern classic is the term for our E36 M3's.

Way off topic: Whoa. Just looked at your instagram link. Nice MGs. I love the leather strap holding down the hood on the B. My dad owned MGs all his life. As, Bs, BGT with a Rover V8. First car I drove was a B. Nice to see people still willing to fight with Lucas to keep those British cars alive. Tough battle. That engine bay looks so clean. Oh yeah: nice M3 too. Enjoy.

That's great!

Yea, that B was the first car I drove a stick on. And yes, there are some of us crazy enough to keep them alive. I revived the green Midget before selling it to another caretaker a few weeks back. I needed a daily and fun car in one. Thanks

Default Re: First Time BMW Owner, 81k '97 Cosmos Black/Black, Lux

So, I have now had the car for a month so I figured I would do an update!

84,600 miles and change

I haven't done much but clean and drive it, but I have installed a ZHP shift knob, reverted the side marker lights back to factory amber, installed new, brighter low beam bulbs, and installed 100watt high beam bulbs. I got it up on the lift and inspected the under body and found that it not only is all in great working order but is all OEM. I completed some basic maintenance, oil change, filters etc. as well as a full detail and seal. I also installed some air horns but those are coming off. I am bummed that I don't like them because the install I did was very well hidden For a reason I have yet to figure out, they were much louder on my truck.

I also went with some friends on a 250 mile drive through CA HYW 33 and found out that it burns a quart of oil under about 9/10ths driving. During my commute it only burns a quart every 1,500 miles.

Here are some pictures from the drive. Please excuse the lack of formal edits!
