Hi everyone,

My name is Tyson and I recently sold my 1971 MG Midget and my 2000 Ford Ranger in pursuit of a clean M3 to handle my daily commute and keep me entertained on weekends. After spending some time with my friend Chris' car (Padman), I decided that an E36 M3 would be a great car to handle all my needs and I am fortunate to have access to other cars like a '67 MG B Works Racer Tribute Car, a '68 Jaguar E-Type, and a '74 Chevrolet Nova if specific times arise when I feel like taking a break from the M3.

Recently, I started this thread which (thanks to all of you) found an overwhelming response and gave me the confidence to make my decision. I am happy to say that I made my choice and found what I think is a great example.

After nearly 6 months of searching for the right car I found one listed near my office in Marina Del Rey, California which was perfect for me. In addition to having the major systems refreshed, I wanted a lux package coupe with lower miles, 5 speed, that was well-maintained and nearly all stock. The car I chose checks all those boxes!

I plan on commuting in the car, keeping it well maintained, autocrossing/canyon driving occasionally, and doing a few club road rallies per year. Maybe some light "OEM Plus" mods here and there, but this car will stay mostly the same as it has since 1997.

Looking forward to getting to know you all around here!

Here are the first set of quick pictures I took to mark the purchase day. Please excuse the lack of edits. Enjoy

Very nice OP. Looks like a nice find! What ya gonna fix first? :-)

Thanks! I saw them on Instagram and had to have one. Coming from vintage cars I wanted to keep the feel on my new daily.

Well, luckily there isn't really anything yet to fix!

I have ordered the missing valve cover plug and "M" emblem for one of the wheels and I have already installed a ZHP shift knob atop the short shifter.

I may take out the short shifter here soon...not sure.

I am going to switch the driver and passenger seat cushions and I would love to buy a new OEM driver's side floor mat, but I only need the one and most come as a set. I would ask for just the one on here, but I don't yet qualify for posting WTB ads

Haha, there is nothing to fix yet. Coming from classic cars I assume that's kind of bittsweet. But I'm sure you'll get the opportunity to fix some things soon enough, unfortunately for some of us, it's addicting.

Looks nice and clean, congrats

Driving 34K miles a year, you have plenty of preventative maintenance to take care of, i'm sure. Also:

-Your rear deck is purple from sun fading. Remove it, dye it black again with some Duplicolor spray dye and reinstall.
-Your side markers don’t match the tail lights and corners. Get some amber side markers, or smoked corners/tails so the lighting matches.
-You’re missing an engine cover plug.

Exhaust hangers...

Nice car OP, like many I'm not a big fan of some of the lux touches, but on Cosmos it can work. Cheers from a fellow Cosmos owner!

Edit: we have just about the same mileage too. Is your build date 11/96?

BMW was so smart: you can buy either a set of interior floormats, or just the driver's side.
