Default First Time BMW Owner - '97 Cosmos Black/Black, Lux (Log)

CONVERTING THIS THREAD INTO A LOG OF THE CAR'S LIFE

Hi everyone,

My name is Tyson and I recently sold my 1971 MG Midget and my 2000 Ford Ranger in pursuit of a clean M3 to handle my daily commute and keep me entertained on weekends. After spending some time with my friend Chris' car (Padman), I decided that an E36 M3 would be a great car to handle all my needs and I am fortunate to have access to other cars like a '67 MG B Works Racer Tribute Car, a '68 Jaguar E-Type, and a '74 Chevrolet Nova if specific times arise when I feel like taking a break from the M3.

Recently, I started this thread which (thanks to all of you) found an overwhelming response and gave me the confidence to make my decision. I am happy to say that I made my choice and found what I think is a great example.

After nearly 6 months of searching for the right car I found one listed near my office in Marina Del Rey, California which was perfect for me. In addition to having the major systems refreshed, I wanted a lux package coupe with lower miles, 5 speed, that was well-maintained and nearly all stock. The car I chose checks all those boxes!

I plan on commuting in the car, keeping it well maintained, autocrossing/canyon driving occasionally, and doing a few club road rallies per year. Maybe some light "OEM Plus" mods here and there, but this car will stay mostly the same as it has since 1997.

Looking forward to getting to know you all around here!

Here are the first set of quick pictures I took to mark the purchase day. Please excuse the lack of edits. Enjoy

Nice car! Surprised a 1997 still came with that archaic steering wheel.

Like those lux inserts.

Now unplug the connector to the breather vskve next to the intske boot and route the wire underneath, instead of over the intake.
