Default E30 M3 Track Car build

I recently purchased a rolling shell and am planning on doing a rebuild to get the car back to track car status. It was previously a DTM replica running an S54 CSL engine.

This is what is use to look like:

Unfortunately the wheels, brakes and driveline did not come with the rolling shell.

Ive been toying with the idea of building the car with all carbon fibre body panels - ive found a supplier that makes the parts at a reasonable cost:

Should be a great project. What driveline are you planning to use?

I already have a rebuilt S54 which is being mated to a e36 M3 5 speed box. Im also using a 3.64 medium case 3 clutch LSD diff. Rear axle is from a Z3 M.

This ought to be good! Looking forward to watching this, so keep the updates flowing. Are you sticking with the rear wing, or will you be going with something more period-correct for the E30/DTM?

Very cool project. Shame the wheels didn't come with it, will you use center-lock wheels with whatever you replace them with?

Looking forward to seeing updates.

Its been slow progress up to now - car has been stripped back to the shell largely - new engine mounts are being made - off the shelf items were not used as the engine was pushed back 60mm (with the help of fire wall modifications).

There are several benefits to this. Better weight distribution and no modications were needed to the s54 sump in order to clear the sub frame.

In the meantime Ive managed to order and collect all the other parts I will need for this build. Engine bay is looking terrible but is being prepared so it can be smoothened out a bit to look pretty.

Here are the mock up engine mounts in preparation for proper mounts to be made by an engineer
