Gotten many parts, still waiting on some parts and decided to order more parts.

Did the VC gasket today. Had been leaking onto the headers and caused some smoke. I'd been cleaning the engine bay anyway so was already halfway there.

Everything looked good and clean except for a broken gasket, the one around the front set of plugs. It wasn't leaking there but just below 5 and 6. No oil leaked into any of the plug ports.

Gasket was hard and inflexible. This is a norcal car originally purchased new at BMW of San Francisco and currently has 115k on the clock. I'm the second owner. Gasket was overdue.

Back together

That's all I'm doing to the engine for the moment. When the lower control arms come in I'll tear into the front suspension.

All of my trim prices are here including new OE roundels and a bunch if various clips, grommets and body fastners. There's an xbrace in there somewhere.

Tires came but Tire Rack sent 3 rear and 1 front tire. Picking label was wrong.

This tag...

On this tire

They're making it good and I should have the correct tire Monday, although I honestly won't need it for several weeks.

Looking good, chef.

When I get my car out of storage I need to finally tackle my vanos.

I'll probably find a few more tidbits I want to refresh.

This is a great thread. If I weren't DD'ing my car these days, I would do a few similar projects. I do keep on top of preventive maintenance, but parking day and night in crowded garages has taught me to stop worrying about dings

Managed some progress and got a few things done. I'll have the lollipop bushings pressed next week and start the reassemble.

SO happy to have a norcal car. Sprayed everything with wd40 and no issues. Everything came apart like textbook.

It was time.

Since some areas are having body work and a respray I've been removing trim.

Tools for removing roundels

The orange tool is a lego technics tool. Thin edge, very strong plastic and a good leverage angle. The blue tools are for bike tires.
