Default Cheap body part fitment?

I need a new fender due to the rust pocket and the previous owner getting backed into. Obviously, the BMW part is the best choice. That being said, I can get a rock auto fender for about $40. How bad is this part really going to be?

Over the years I've come to learn that aftermarket parts that are meant to mimic or represent original parts will never look or fit 100% like OE without modification or compensating somewhere.

What's the color? If it's semi common I bet you can find a oem fender in the right color.

If you are gonna spend a couple hundred painting it, spend an extra $100 on the part

I may have it wrapped or rattle can it. I have called a few shops and it is not inexpensive to have it painted. This will be a track car and while I want it to look good, I really need to prioritize function over form. If I can get a reasonably close fitment on the fender, I'm tempted to try it.
