Another update:

Went to see another reputable shop in my area, said they didn't need to replace the windshield but that it could crack in the process, in which I would need a replacement.

My question is - if this does occur, do I go with the aftermarket part? I was told the only difference is that it won't have the bmw logo, but is there anything else I need to consider? I have an appointment this Saturday.

That is a risk typically stores like safe life use techniques to avoid that. If you do need a replacement plinkinton brand retains a bmw logo and a good rain sensor.
