Default 6MT accelerator pedal in SMG

I read somewhere on the Internet that the only difference between SMG and 6MT accelerator pedal is a plastic piece that clicks when you press the pedal all the way down. Electrically they are identical?

Can someone else confirm that a 6MT pedal will work fine in an SMG?

Yes, that is correct. And you can take apart the SMG pedal and remove the detent to make it just like MT pedal.

In one of three 02' M3s I had they all had SMG but two had the "Button" but one didn't.
Like it is said above that "Button" is basically just a spring.

That’s a nice little piece of knowledge to have.. I converted mine so I have the button in my pedal still.. Might consider taking it out now that I know this.. I have always considered it the “you might blow it up” button.. Kind of like having it there.

Thanks everyone. Trying to debug tps codes, and wanted to swap in a pedal from my 6mt to see if it helped. I really donít feel like taking the airbox out.

Take the side cover off the pedal assembly, it is a 5 point tamper proof screw, inside you will see the detent button. It just slides out the open side.

One pedal is cheaper than the other right? So good solution. However, if you have smg, wouldn't you want that spring or it doesn't matter?
