Default Exhaust guidance E92 M3

Looking to upgrade my exhaust. I am the 2nd owner and know I have a Remus (something). I sold the OEM exhaust which was sawed off at the edge of the muffler.

The car has a head piercing drone at 2800 rpm but otherwise sound incredible.

The car must stay street legal and pass emissions. Would love to shed some weight, gain some low end torque and improve the sound without reprogramming ECU.

Looking at the akropovic and eisenmann. Where I get lost (specifically, on the akra) - am I looking for the slip on or the complete system? What got me concerned was the language on Akraís site where the complete system states it is not street legal.

Question: does replacing the system with x-pipe add any benefit?

Question: does the akrapovic produce that low end throaty sound of the eisenmann?

Question: money isnít an issue, I just want to do this right. Any suggestions on what to buy above? Other suggestions?

Thanks, I searched but couldnít find any new modded friendly threads on the topic.

I've got the Active Autowerks signature cat-back system on my car and I love it. Not to loud, but it'll get your attention.
The sounds I've heard from the Akra are amazing, but I think they're more raspy. Might not be what you want.
I don't know if the x-pipe will get your anything. Honestly, there isn't a whole lot left to pull out of these motors without going forced induction.

Any exhaust you install that is more then a catback - you will need to get tune to remove the CEL on dash. Akrapovic makes a fantastic system for the car , but truly only shines in full system (headers back).

Look into the BMW MPE Iconel. They hit a home run on this piece for only being a catback. Compliments the cars sound, no drone, saves weight due to material, and looks great.

I did a full titanium exhaust, which sounds amazing and has no rasp, but it is loud af... I don't know why Akra's would have rasp if they're full titanium, unless they've done something wrong.

I have this exhaust with a test pipe and absolutely love it. Get compliments every where I go and it sounds amazing through all rpms.

I'll tell you what to avoid unless you're a kid and want a race car, Mistershaft. Obnoxious, loud and unbearable drone. Nothing but a headache, literally. It was easier to sell the car than find an oem exhaust that hasnt been hacked up to sound "better"

The rear exhausts add sound but probably no power. Sound varies — some sound good, some bad and it sometimes depends on the listener. If you want more power, modify or replace the X pipe with one with no or fewer or higher flow cats. Emissions legality depends accordingly. Beware modifying or changing the X pipe changes the sound of the rear exhaust. It can be hard to find the exact combination you want

So I just picked up an 08 e92 m3, and it sounds pretty great honestly.. the previous owner said it's pretty much completely stock, but he was the 2nd owner and I think the first one did an OEM exhaust mod. Really not sure but I can see some small welding lines on the top of the muffler. Anyone got a good pic of a non-cut+welded muffler from the top?
