Good find, though!

Weird. Either way, I finally got ahold of BMWNA and they called me back today. The first letter should go out based on registration at DMV. That's just notification of the recall. A second letter should go out once a fix has been determined and parts are available. This is the case for my M3 and the wife's X5 VANOS bolts. He said we should expect the X5 letter by the end of September, later for the M3 while a fix is approved by NTSA and parts are sourced. This is coming from Mr. John Coffee, BMWNA rep I spoke with earlier today.

I went to my dealership the other day and they told me they don't have any info, consistent with what many others are saying. The sad part for me is as they used at my key to check for recalls they kept looking at the key and saying "Wow, reminds me of the times." and "This car is still hanging in there?" like it's a 100 year old Model T.

Odd. BMW told me the fix hasn't been approved yet and it's be a few weeks to a few months. Maybe it's the US NTSA.

I also just had the recall done on my car. Maybe it is something to do with you guys being in the US. I asked about it while I was at the dealership buying a couple parts and they booked me in for it without even checking, they knew it was going on and didn't need to ask any questions/look it up, just checked the vin. From being dropped off, it only took them 2 or 3 hours before they called me and said it was done.
