I think with that mileage it would bring about that SMG or not.

Compared to the SMG TiAg with the same miles, I guess you're right. (https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2006-bmw-m3-coupe-26/) compared to the 2017 sold SMG SG on Mtext with 20k less miles, it did well (https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2005-bmw-m3-6/). I dunno, it wasn't in an outstanding condition to me. It was your average decently cared for example that needed a number of cosmetic issues corrected.

Thought this would sell for more being that its an Imola ZCP.

still dont understand why that SG ZCP sold for 70 grand. It cant be becuase its 1 year newer and 20k miles less.

Duck? your thoughts on this and the other ZCP's that didnt do well after the SG one sold for 70k?

You answered your own question. Imola has never had good resale relative to other colors. Plus SG is more iconic (CSL)

That's not true. Imola is a very desirable color and Imola ZCPs are rare. I know EAG charges a pretty penny for Imola ZCPs. I disagree on the CSL part too. I know last year model always fetches the most money but 30 grand more? Its starting to look like anything over 20k miles is worn out by BaT standards.

I think that 20k miles is probably the big factor. The value increases rapidly the closer you get to 0 miles.

I was expecting $42K-$45K for the Imola after that 29K mile Silver Grey went for $50K. I guess with the fee it's on the low end of that.

It doesn't sound like much, but that one year difference between the 05 and 06 ZCP has had an effect on pricing. I get it...last year of production...but there's no difference between the 05 and 06 so I feel it's just a mindset people have. EAG prices their cars accordingly as well.

I also feel the mileage threshold varies dramatically with these cars. I don't think we've really seen a X,XXX mileage ZCP recently have we? 1X,XXX...proof is in the results of that $70K car. That car probably would have easily gone for another $5K more if it had Imola interior. When you start to hit those mid 20s in mileage, the drop off appears to start and it seems to be pretty significant. 36K miles on the Imola is perfect driving mileage to me.

How much did color have an impact? Imola in general is regarded by many as one of the best colors BMW has produced. The first E46 M3 we ever owned was Imola over Imola and that red was like no red I've ever seen. However, also having owned a Silver Grey, I don't know if there's a color that've seen that accentuates the lines of the E46 than that color. It's pretty spectacular really.

Finally, number of owners certainly has to have an impact. 5 owners on the Imola vs. 2 on the Silver Grey will play a role, but it depends on the records. We are the 5th owners on our AW, but I have contact information on all but the 1st and I know the 1st had a significant BMW collection so I'm sure I may be able to find out who that was. Many of these several owner cars have minimal to know information on previous owners.

I find the E46 market fascinating. It's really kind of a wild card and you just never know what's going to happen. People surprise you in what they're willing to pay for. $47K for a vert? Sorry, never saw that coming. Truly is based on whatever a person is willing to pay.

Good observation on the number of owners. Personally I care about that a lot. And I agree that SG accentuates the lines on the E46 very well, also TiAg too. As terraphantam also said, I think 20k or lower is where its at.

And yeah I never ever thought a vert would go for that kinda money, maybe because Imola?

With all that said, your IB/White is still the best E46 sold on BaT in my eyes. LMK when its FS
