Zoomz...just paint it normally. You have that fancy pants OEM CSL bootlid and a nice silver car. Why ruin it?

Seriously. What if the overwhelming response was to paint it Oxford Green and gouge the surface with a rusty screw driver. Would you do it? No, so do whatever the hell you want.

The carbon section around the exhaust tips is only getting clear coat. The question is weather to paint the rest body color(silver) or paint it black so it stands out like some of the newer cars have it, ie camaro

thats what I did, 2-tone, went TiAg in the usual area and painted the CF with matte black...not a fan of CF lol...

The "updated" look you're thinking of doesn't work on the E46 because there is nothing to separate it from the painted area. The way the diffuser blends into the rest of the bumper is flat vs contoured like newer cars.

The black area has to be inside the contour lines that surround the exhaust.
