Hello Ian - Out of curiosity, did you get around to writing up your thoughts on the McChip (?)-DKR(?) ECU flash on one of your M3s? Any thoughts on Epic's tune? Anyways, thanks for letting me trouble you.

I've never heard anything but good things about Epic's tune-- but have no personal experience. I haven't seen any engine failures from their tunes, either, which I can't say of all tuners

I didn't write up my McChip experience yet because I haven't really done it yet. When I got it dyno tuned, I had a faulty knock sensor. I have no desire to turn them down, so we weren't able to get it optimized.

Since then I've replaced the knock sensors, but winter came and the car got taken off the road-- so I haven't found my way back to a dyno yet.

That said, from a drivability and seat of the pants feel, I'm exceptionally happy with the McChip DKR tune. It feels like much power powerful stock, if that makes sense.

Back when I flashed on the canned version, I posted this impression of driving the car, which still stands (only it's better now):

17” RG-Rs on, M cube trim installed. M tech bumper goes on this weekend.

Centercaps coming soon

Also got a full front end respray, new OE headlight lenses, and a new OE hood (old one came with a small dent)/OE kidneys/roundel.

Modding is nearly complete. M3 mirrors and euro headers/cats/tune to go!

... and at some point I need to redo the tint.

17s really took the civility to another level

Goddamn it man.. too cool.

As a tall guy, what are your thoughts on getting in and out vs. the coupe? I'm always surprised how much the B pillar gets in the way on my brothers e90

I don't have trouble with the pillar on the e90 or the e46 non coupe.

But, I sit further forward than most tall people.

Installed the M tech bumper, M3 aux fan (properly shaped for the M tech bumper), and all the front end ducting/trim. Also got the front end resprayed (though don't judge the paint by these pictures-- it's pretty dirty), and replaced the Kidneys/headlight lenses/roundel to freshen everything up.

I'm amazed how functional the M tech bumper is! I always assumed it was just a cosmetic piece, but it actually brings over all of the M3 ducting to the standard e46! Perfect for swapped cars!
