Default Missing in the engine baythey all

Ok, when I bought my car and was looking it over I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the engine bay. Now that I have looked at it more I noticed there is a big whole where it looks like something was suppose to be. I have attached a pic not of my car but of one that has the stuff there. Is the for the SMG or is it something I should have?

That's what I thought. So great I'm missing the ABS. Why the hell would someone take that out.

BMW moved the ABS system to the other side of the engine compartment (about under the brake master cylinder) around 2003 or so. They left the nice big open space for you to carry take-out Chinese food home. The engine heat keeps it warm.

I think that pic also includes the HPF AEM unit.
