Question Car Idling Funny

My car has been idling kinda funny lately, it goes (by listening) up and down when the car is stopped. u can hear the engine and the exhaust (obviously) and sometimes the idle goes down 2 500rpm, then back up 2 idle, its random as hell

Also, sometimes when im cruisin in 4th, 5th, er 6th (i have a manual) and then take it out of gear to slow down, it stalls, but the lights stay on, including the fog lights which doesnt happen when u actually stall the car

whats goin on, cause i dont wanna hafta take my car into the dealer yet again

Try cleaning the MAF sensor ..if that doesn't help ..then it could be the fuel pump

Same exact thing is happening to me - need to take mine back to the dealer. Got a 50/50 shot of it recovering once it hits the 500rpm mark ive noticed in mine... You can try what ///M3-QTR suggested, i did the same and no change..

The first time i took it in the stalling was really bad, would happen everytime i came to a stop or turning into my driveway or parking spot. Took it to the dealer and they replaced both front cats (under war) and redid my dinan software- they told me the software was the cause not the cats ( they replaced the cats because of a code) ok whatever codes cleared and it threw a bad O2 sensor code, they had none in stock but told me 1 bad O2 would not cause stalling - and i did have no stalling at all for 2 weeks thought the issue was gone and then it was back, its not nearly as bad as it was, maybe happens 4 or 5 times a week ( granted i only drive 30miles a day and she sits on the weekend)..I have not had time to take her back but its on my to-do list... I just rolled 50k on her too

Camshaft position sensor? Is your car throwing any codes?

The stalling at speed is probably due to your intake and so is the random idle. I had the same issue with my car but it improved when I changed the fuel filter. I think the system was getting a bit clogged.

Probably your intake...it's a known issue with the K&Ns and symptoms are as you've described.

Did you clean the intake recently? If you have you may have put too much oil on it and coated the MAF which is causing the crazy idle.
