Good work getting a baseline, especially if you have some power mods planned

I have an 08 E90 M3. How do I find out which software version I have ... do I have to go to the dealer? Also, how can I get the newest version and more hp?

Dealer can tell you what software version you have but they will charge you to upgrade to 240e. Cheaper to get it through tuners or eas for example. However depending on your software version it might not even be worth it to upgrade. Your version would have to be very old for it to actually make a difference
