Default E46 M3 - Dyno

At the base is an euro model M3, 6MT - 343 hp

Engine mods: K&N panel filter + Rogue Engineering power pulleys (street version)

I think the power increase is very good.

European cars are more powerful out of the box.

At the crank maybe, but at the wheels....no way!
It must be some magic pulley! According to your graph, a 17HP increase... very unlikely...

Second, it's a bit more complicated than that. Without a before and after, we don't know how much he actually gained.

Euro cars are rated at 343 DIN HP, which is 338 SAE HP, so they have 5hp more to begin with.

He dynoed 361, so at first glance, that's an 18HP increase, but we don't know two important things:
1. Was his dyno in DIN or SEA numbers. This is a 5hp difference that might have been neglected.
2. What is the driveline loss correction factor they used to simulate those numbers. Some people use a .85 conversion factor, some use .825, between them could be a 10hp difference.

Either way, that's more than I dynoed with eBay headers, glad to see your car is running strong!

Agreed that the base line from factory is ~343hp, but you don't know how that dyno is reading. You may have pulled 365hp stock on that dyno. Do you have a baseline?

You chart means nothing. There is no base line. The numbers are arbitrary with out a comparison to the same car on the same dyno before.

343 is the published number, there is probably a +/- 7hp one car to the next, then the margin of error on a dyno is around 5-6hp. There is not enough accuracy to properly find what the gains, if any, were.

azngolf: 361 - 343 = 18 hp

Quebeker: it is logical that the power is measured at the crank

NikolaiD: I do not have a dyno run before the mods, apart from the 2 mods above I use also NGK Iridium spark plugs.
The Dyno is V-tech with standard European DIN numbers, I do not know the correction factor used (I will ask for it and revert).

Mr. Wolfe: This dyno is verry accurate, I do not have to proove anything to anyone ...

I did another 2 dyno runs with 358 and 359.

It'd be good to get wheel horsepower, since that number is kind of "definitive". Crank HP number can be changed depending on what the dyno operator feels it should be.
I don't mean to discredit the dyno at all, it's just not a universal conversion as it is right now.
Is your ECU tuned, or stock?

Weather, correction factor, crank multiplier, SAE v DIN... this is just a dyno queen sheet, sry man. Always look to before & after sheets before trying to support a statement of gained power.
