Glad it made its way to you in one piece! Curious to hear your longer term impressions on how, and just how well it baby's.

The issue for me is supply - there's next to no full-BEV versions on the market, seems everybody except me wanted the REx model. Also not keen on the extremely unique wheel/tire size. Being that I would be driving it in Canadian winters, there is literally like 2 wheels and 2 tire options, leaving me SOL if supply runs low and I'm in need of a replacement.

Curious how much you end up driving it long term relative to your other cars. From what I hear, a lot of people end up neglecting their ICE cars for the EV in 95% of driving purely because it's free and they get comfortable with the available range.
There's a bunch more snow tire (and summer tire) options if you order tires from Germany.

It's crazy how high the take rate on the REx seems to be. I really didn't want it!

Being "free" (nearly) to drive does make it super easy to justify. We put 145 miles on it yesterday and I'm already 65 miles into today (current time: 7:30am).

I do this both cars would be improved by an s54

Seriously, though, if BMW put the kind of light weight effort into an internal combustion engine M car, instead of an EV, it would far and away be the best car they've ever built. This thing is a <2800 lb car that seats 4- and it's that weight WITH 600 lbs of battery under the floor.

... buying a blown engine i8 and S85 swapping it might be completely wonderful/exotic for very few dollars.

Is there room in one of those cars for a real motor and transmission?

M5: yes

i3: realistically, it wouldn't be good with a gas engine. Without the battery putting the COG on the floor, it would actually be a pretty top heavy car. The front and rear areas where you might put an engine are both super small. Not a good platform for swaps, IMO.

i8: I'd think yes, though I don't know for sure. But, it has an engine/trans in it, stock, and much less space allocated for batteries, not under the car (basically they're in the trans tunnel).

i8. Looks like there'd be space for an engine in the back:

This is the video that really sealed the deal on me wanting an i3:

Crazy how much of the car is CF, beyond the chassis. We're a two CF roof car house, now

I didn't know these were available with "normal" interiors, looks really good that way. The only ones I've seen had the odd interior you described in the first post. Looks like a nice little around town hauler, congrats!

I spied that baby swing in the background of the garage, kid is already taking over your space and not even born yet. Be borrowing small hand tools around the age of three and telling you don't know a darn thing about cars by the age of twelve.

You are going to have a great time regardless as I've had the best times of my life with my kids. Have fun...
