Default Oil pump o-ring replacement question

I will be installing a baffled oil pan & gasket next week along with new pickup tube, pickup tube gasket, and dispstick O-rings.

I was also interested in changing out the o-ring inside the oil pump. #8 here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=11_6017

Is the spring (#7) under a lot of pressure? Looks like a snap ring that holds the cover in place. I'm wondering if it's going to be difficult to reinstall or if there's a trick to it.

iirc I just did this with a member's car (to clean the pump not to replace the oring). I don't believe there was anything difficult about it.

The whole pump assembly is reasonably priced new too (although less the upgraded Z3 tube); https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...em-11411740154

Ok, good to know. I'll have a crack at it then.

Not bad (despite the reviews mentioning a nut not fitting. my guess is the size has changed and you'd have to drill the one it comes with), but my pump is fine. Just trying to cover all areas that may lead to starvation. Hence why i'm replacing the gasket, tube, and o-ring.

Thanks again, Brett.
