What is your oil temp running. My car gets to the middle of the water temp gauge very quickly, within a few km and it also produces heat very quickly when it is cold out. The oil temp is not buffered and takes 15+km to get up to about 80-90c. On the track it gets all the way up to 105c with ambient at about 25-27c.

the higher operating temps are usually for emission and economy reasons, its not a performance (hp) thing. one problem with extra heat is the plastics and rubbers degrade quicker so you need to keep upto date with the maintenance of the cooling system and other bits in the engine bay

This is a very good description of what happens with my car. The oil temp hits about 90C after 10 minutes of casual driving. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

After a few weeks of crazy work and vacation I'm back working on the M3.
Today I did an oil change and front end face lift. (and ordered cooling system parts) The old... ![]() The new... ![]() Let's call it front end phase 1. I know you all loved the license plate holders but the tow hook holder works a little better. I also went with the US M3 luxury lower grill in place of the white mesh. I think it matches the larger louvers of the kidney grills. What do you think? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

But don't protect the condensor/radiator like the mesh does.
I've had rocks trapped in the mesh before. With the slats, they would've gone straight through the mentioned parts. Don't know which plate holder is worse. Both are not OK. Why not use the orginal one?

The original attachments are spaced for a european sized number plate which is much wider. (You can see the holes in the original black trim) The way Canadian dealers fitted the front license plate is drill holes in the bumper below the center trim strip and then add a plastic bracket for the number plate. I didn't want to drill into my bumper! The plate holder is actually this... http://www.usmillworks.com/bmw_front..._tow_hook.html Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
