HOT soapy water and scotchpad works brilliant.

then spray it all with black plastidip. did my entire centreconsole/ebrake console, rear ashtray and trim, as well as the front ashtray surround, door, and sunglasses door.

looks and feels perfect

I was also wondering about the above question.

They guy in this thread (brilliant job btw) sprayed his with Vinyl/fabric spray and it looks great but again wondering about resistance to wear.

I got mine to come off real easy in sink full of hot water and one of these:

Then I hit it with sand paper and Duplicolor Matte Black. Near perfect match.

Good ideas. The wear gets annoying.

I used wet and dry,. worked out through the grades,. used cars polish and then buffed the area. Its now has a shiny finish instead of matt but this took me all weekend...
What I loved the most is that its the same colour underneath,.. lol

Prefer how it is now to how it was before the mirror popped,..

I used, quite literally, boiling water and a dobie pad--or however it is spelled. It was messy, time consuming, and killed my hands.

I'm thinking about sanding down and respraying a sating black; or replacing it all with new units since my ashtray cover is beat up pretty badly.

I was never able to solve this problem with a 2004 steering wheel. The more I cleaned, the worse it got. I ended up buying a new wheel from Tischer ($360 at the time). This wheel has a different type of leather, which hasn't deteriorated at all in 3 years.

Magic Erasers work well on the steering wheel. Once a week wipe.
