I literally just woke up to this news in a text from my wife, I'm truly in shock and devastated, he was an amazing artist, one of a kind and had a huge impact on my life. I was fortunate enough to see him with Soundgarden and audioslave several times, all were amazing shows with a ton of interaction with the audience, thank you for the memories Chris may you rest in peace. What a tragedy, this one hurts a lot.

I grew up watching the Black Hole Sun music videos on MTV. Was one of my favorites. RIP

The medical examiner has ruled it a suicide. I've been thinking about it all day and am so confused. Some of their lyrics are dark, but he always seemed to be in control of his demons and maintain a positive outlook given how involved and relevant he had remained over decades in the industry. It's the same way I think about Eddie Vedder and Dave Grohl, that they are way too motivated by it all, and have reached an age and level of contentment with life that makes suicide seem so incomprehensible.

Although I wasn't a fan, I did enjoy some of his work and recognise his talent. Sucks to hear he committed suicide.

Technically, he did kill himself, but the way I read it, sounds like auto-erotic asphyxiation. Found with a "band around his neck" is what I read.

Reports are saying that his wife called a bodyguard to do a welfare check after a phone call. I dunno.

The death was a suicide by hanging, the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office said in a statement released on Thursday afternoon. . It said a full autopsy had not yet been completed.
